Blackberry Thyme Sparkler (Mocktail + Cocktail Version)

This drink is the August vibe in a glass. Whether you’re mixing up a mocktail or adding a splash of spirit, it’s the kind of sipper that makes your book club feel like a garden party.

🫐 Ingredients (makes 2 drinks):

  • ½ cup fresh blackberries

  • 2–3 sprigs fresh thyme, plus extra for garnish

  • 1 tbsp honey or simple syrup (adjust to taste)

  • Juice of ½ lemon

  • Sparkling water (for mocktail) or gin, vodka, or prosecco (for cocktail)

  • Ice

  • Optional: pinch of sea salt (trust us—it deepens the flavor)

🍹 Directions:

1. Muddle the flavor.

In a cocktail shaker or jar, muddle the blackberries, thyme, honey, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt until juicy and fragrant.

2. Shake (or stir) it up.

Add ice and shake well (or stir briskly). Strain into two glasses filled with ice. For a rustic look, skip straining and embrace the berry bits.

3. Top it off.

  • For a mocktail, top with chilled sparkling water.

  • For a cocktail, add 1½ oz gin or vodka per glass, then top with sparkling water or a splash of prosecco.

4. Garnish and serve.

Add a sprig of thyme and a blackberry or two on top. Sip, sigh, and say something mysterious about this month’s book.

✨ Host Mode Tips:

  • Hosting brunch? Make a big batch base (minus bubbles) ahead of time and let guests pour and top their own.

  • Want to lean extra witchy-academic (à la The Cloisters)? Serve in coupe glasses and rim with blackberry sugar.

🍹Cheers, Ilda
