Taco Night
There’s something about a taco night that just works. It’s unfussy, fun, and secretly one of the best ways to gather people around a table without overthinking a thing. Oddly enough, I’ve even been known to break out taco night during the holidays. When everything else feels like a production, tacos feel like a sigh of relief — still special, still delicious, but easy. Here’s how I set mine up:
The Stars of the Show
Ground Beef
I always use my go-to ground beef recipe from my Melt-In-Your-Mouth Enchiladas (if you know, you know). It’s savory, a little smoky, and somehow even better the next day (if there’s any left). Orrrr this really bomb Birria recipe.
Slow Cooker Chicken
For variety (and for those who lean more toward chicken tacos), I love this slow cooker cilantro lime chicken recipe from Our Salty Kitchen. It’s fresh, tender, and basically makes itself while I’m doing other things. Total win.
The Setup
This is where it gets fun. I bring out a handful of cute little bowls for all the fixings—because presentation really does make everything feel more festive:
Warm black beans or refried beans
Fluffy rice (plain or cilantro-lime style)
Sour cream
Guac (always)
Shredded lettuce
Diced tomatoes or pico de gallo
Jalapeños (fresh or pickled)
Shredded cheese
Fresh lime wedges
Hot sauce(s) for those who like a kick
And let’s not forget the tortillas—soft corn, flour, or even crunchy taco shells. I like to warm them up just before serving so everything feels fresh.
The Secret Weapon: Taco Holders
These stainless steel taco holders are a game changer. No more tipping tacos, spilled fillings, or sad-looking setups. They make everything look put together with zero effort (my kind of tool).
Make It Yours
Whether it’s a Tuesday, a random Friday, or smack in the middle of the holiday rush, taco night is always a good idea.
