Lemon Basil Vodka Spritz
Light, zesty, and effortlessly chic — this spritz is sunshine in a glass.
This cocktail is what happens when a citrus grove meets an herb garden, and they decide to throw a summer party. The lemon brings brightness, the basil adds a little garden glow, and the vodka? It keeps things fun. This drink pairs perfectly with coastal dinners like salmon and herby couscous, but it also holds its own as a pre-dinner patio sipper.
Bonus: it's just fancy enough to make your guests say, “Ooooh, what’s in this?”
What You’ll Need (Serves 2):
3 oz vodka (citrus vodka works great too)
1 oz fresh lemon juice
1 oz honey simple syrup* (see note)
4–6 fresh basil leaves
Sparkling water or prosecco, to top
Ice
Lemon slices & basil sprigs, for garnish
*To make honey simple syrup: Mix equal parts honey and hot water, stir to dissolve, and cool.
🍸 How to Make It
1. Muddle the basil.
In a shaker, muddle the basil leaves gently with the lemon juice and honey syrup. You’re going for bruised, not destroyed.
2. Shake it up.
Add vodka and a handful of ice to the shaker. Shake for 10–15 seconds until chilled.
3. Strain and top.
Strain into two glasses filled with ice. Top each with a splash (or more!) of sparkling water or prosecco — your call depending on how boozy you want to go.
4. Garnish like you mean it.
Add a lemon slice, a cute sprig of basil, maybe even a twist of lemon peel if you're feeling extra.
💁♀️ Host Mode Tips:
Make it pitcher-friendly: Muddle a bunch of basil and mix the base ingredients (vodka, lemon juice, syrup) in advance. Just top with bubbles when serving.
Want to go zero-proof? Sub vodka for Seedlip Grove or cucumber lemonade. Still super chic.
Glassware vibes: Serve in stemless wine glasses, highballs, or vintage coupes for flair.
Pair It With:
Crispy-skinned salmon, lemon-herb couscous, and a playlist full of soft waves and French seaside jazz.
